WhatHowWhy Evaluate narrative fiction… Review grading rubric, grade 2 writing examples, discuss claims and evidence Understanding a rubric will help you complete your best work and follow guidelines. Write narrative fiction… Use your pre-writing & rubric to start typing your narrative… Creative writing helps our brains to work in new ways that we can use to problem- solve in real life.
With your group you will grade 2 short narratives. Please follow these steps for each narrative. Step 1: Sit in a circle. All students should read the narrative individually. Step 2: As a group, talk through each area of the rubric and circle or highlight the points & description you think it should get for each section (section = narrative fiction, length, etc.) (mark the narrative text to back up your decisions if necessary) Step 3: Give it a final grade. (out of 32 total possible points) Remember: Let everyone talk. Be understanding of other people’s opinions. Stay quiet.
Class grading discussion: The class will go through each area of the rubric with each narrative and discuss possible grading options. During the discussion: 1. Participation will be tracked via Classroom Dojo (so get heard!) 2. Students should present their thoughts seriously, respect and comment on the opinions and thoughts of others. 3. Do not cut each other off.
What rubric quality are you missing so far in your narrative? Circle or highlight the area on the rubric that you think you need help on or to work on the most before finishing your project?
