Traditions include religion persevered, sacred drums, sacred fire, old types of costume and hairstyles  This keeps old traditions alive

Trade of gold, kola nuts and slaves were the main exports and textiles, horses, salt and luxury goods are the main exports.  This makes it easier to gain trust

 Moccan Army invaded and won but soon the empire split up, with Bmbara Kingdom of Segu

 Wealth & power was also undermined by environmental change, causing drought and diseases.  Decline in population

 Askia Muhammad made pligrimage to Mecca that led to stronger ties with the Muslim world.  Made the Kingdom stronger

 Sonni Ali the Greats military consisted of a Calvary of expert horsemen
