Traditions A festival is held just before the start of lent called Fasching where many people wear masks. In Germany Easter starts on Good Friday when they drape the cross and eat fish as a special Easter feast. On Easter eve a bonfire is usually lit by children. On Easter Sunday the lunch traditionally consists of coloured Easter eggs, a lamb shaped cake and people love the sweets. Lots of games are played such as egg hunts and Chocolate Kiss. They also burn the old Christmas trees to give a warm welcome to the spring.

Eggs During the Easter period eggs are emptied by making a pinhole in the bottom, they are then hung on the trees and bushes. They also have egg trees real eggs that people have decorated are hung along with ones that the family has collected over the years which are decorated beautifully.

Fasching Officially it starts on the 11 th of November at 11 minutes past 11 and continues for three months quietly until the Tolle tage (crazy days) which end on Rosenmontag (Rose Monday) which is 42 days before Easter. It is a chance to go crazy before the relaxing time of lent.

The End Thanks for watching BYE
