What is Ethos?  Ethos: refers to credibility, respect or authority a person has Critical questions to ask:  Can I trust this person’s judgment?  Do I respect this person?  Is this person an expert or authority figure on the subject? Nike CommercialCommercial

Ethos Example:  Claim: Students should be allowed to use cell phones during school hours. – List one supporting facts and/or statistics that will support the claim.

What is Logos?  Logos: the logic used to support a claim. EXAMPLES - Evidence –Facts and statistics –Visual charts –Research studies Progressive Insurance CommercialCommercial

Logos Example:  Claim: Students should be allowed to use cell phones during school hours. – List one supporting facts and/or statistics that will support the claim.

What is Pathos?  Pathos: appealing to emotions. Convincing you by how it makes you feel. EXAMPLES:  Personal experience  Anyone/anything you might care about McDonalds CommercialCommercial State Farm CommercialCommercial
