Transforming Learning through Open Educational Resources Sir John Daniel Commonwealth of Learning

“…any learner anywhere in the Commonwealth shall be able to study any distance teaching programme available from any bona fide college or university in the Commonwealth”. From the Briggs Report: ‘Towards a Commonwealth of Learning’ 1987

‘Open Educational Resources ’ 2002

A consortium of 13 African universities… involving 700 teacher educators. It works across 12 African countries –– by creating teacher education materials in Arabic, English, French and Kiswahili.

Last year 400,000 African teachers worked with TESSA materials in 19 teacher education programmes. These materials they have a direct impact on millions of children through their use in the classroom.

Collaborative Development of Learning Materials COL & Hewlett Foundation 20 sets of self-instructional materials in the senior secondary curriculum (each is a complete syllabus for one grade 10 or 12 subject)
