Student Success Initiative (SSI) n Letters were sent home today in their Tuesday folder. n If a fifth grade student does not pass math and/or reading TAKS, a Grade Placement Committee will convene to determine interventions and/or placement.

Fifth Grade Grading Guidelines n Major grades will account for 50% of their grade and include: tests, projects, fluency probes, final compositions, District Common Assessments. n Minor grades will account for 40% of their grade and include: classwork, quizzes, participation, notebook rubrics, graphic organizers, labs, math centers. n Homework will account for 10% of their grade. n We do accept late work as long as a reasonable attempt to complete assignments is made.

Parent Volunteers n We appreciate all of your help! n To volunteer you must complete a background check first and sign up on Klein’s website. n Please remember to stop by the office before going to any of our rooms or the cafeteria.

Parent Connection n Parents can access their child’s information contained in our grade books. n Includes grades, assignments, and attendance. n Lemm will update by 5:00 every Thursday. n

Reading and math homework will be assigned nightly, Monday through Thursday. Other subjects are assigned as needed. For science, they have a weekly sheet with a question every day. Students record assignments daily in their Homework Agendas. Homework assignments may also be viewed on teacher websites. ***Don’t forget to memorize math facts and to read nightly!

Lemm wants to be First in Math! n n *Adjusts to each student’s level. n *In teams they earn online stickers. n *Competes against other schools, in the district, state, and nation. n * FUN!

Technology n Teacher websites contain information on: homework, classwork, upcoming tests, rubrics for projects, vocabulary and spelling words, links to educational resources, parent resources, etc… n is the best way to contact us. n Students will have access to gaggle this year, which is a safe, school based . They will receive their library notices for a late book via their gaggle account.

Appropriate Dress for Physical Education: Clothing– comfortable, breathable tops and bottoms (refer to handbook concerning length of shorts) Shoes – closed toed, flexible soled shoes, such as tennis shoes are required on Physical Education days Classrooms – many rooms are chilly, your child may want to leave a sweater or light jacket here.

Attendance It’s very important for your child to be here every day, unless he/she is sick. Every 4 th tardy lowers their conduct grade one level. Meals Breakfast is $1.00 and lunch is $1.75. When they are low on money an envelope will go home. You can pay on-line or send money back in the envelope.
