Overview Recap of Product 1. Description 2. Functional requirements/desires Conceptual Designs 1. Proposed Solutions Positive, Negative, and Interesting features emphasized Conclusion
Recap of Product A pressurized storage system used to maintain/replenish tennis balls to increase longevity and performance. Functional requirements/desires 1. SAFETY 2. Hold a pressure of 14 psi 3. Maximize capacity (minimum 150) 4. Easy to use 5. Does not hinder regular routine of user
Container with Top Pros 1. Pump and container are separate. 2. Designed with lip to protect tennis balls from weather. 3. Designed to fit already marketed training carts. Cons 1. Designed with multiple parts Interesting 1. This system can be used to keep balls dry when raining and to help store them. This storage until has a hinged cover that can be total removed. This allows for easy access and also keeps the balls out of the weather if raining.
Funnel Box Pros 1. Gear driven seals provide slow decompression and little chance of explosive decompression. Cons 1. Interior of box is inaccessible. Interesting 1. The loading and unloading mechanism gives the design it’s name and allows for easy use. Design uses a funnel as a hopper system to load and unload tennis balls.
Water Column Pros 1. Designed without a motor 2. Designed without a pump 3. Simple Maintainance Cons 1. Large immobile container 2. Fungal and bacterial growth Interesting 1. Designed to be efficient in that it does not use a compressor and would be similar to an aquarium. Design uses a water holding tank to pressurize the tennis balls up to 2 atmospheres.
Sliding Lid Design
Sliding Lid Design(Cont’d) Pros 1. Least change from current, high usability design 2. Easily sealed with removable top Cons 1. Complicated seals 2. Basket doubles as pressure container 3. High strength design required Interesting 1. Attached wheels with integrated pump into lid 2. Looks most like current designs. 3. Top can be free, or attach to wall to serve as a “Pressure Station”
Cylindrical Tunnel Air Compressor Holding Tank Release Plate Seal Plate Pros Portable/Simple Easy to clean out Cons Expensive Possible Danger Interests Could be used as a stationary or a portable unit A mulit-tubluar pressurizing system for tennis balls with easy release plate to drop the balls in to the basket.
Vacuum Seal Bucket Pros 1. Lightweight, Portable 2. Simple to use Cons 1. Leaking issues 2. Might not be able to hold too many balls Interesting 1. The sealing mechanism is unique. A tennis ball container that is a cylindrical pressure vessel that can be placed on a cart when in use. After use, the lid is placed on the container and a compressor is connected via a compressor. The lid has a vacuum seal where the hose can go in.
Removable Basket Design Pros 1. Easy to use/Simple 2. Tennis balls can be easily carried around Cons 1. Cost can be high with large container 2. Container is not very mobile 3. Possible leaking issues Interesting 1. Works as add-on instead of an entirely different system all together. Tennis balls are to be placed in a container similar to a deep freezer. The container is to be connected to a compressor/pump that pushes in air, eventually revitalizing the tennis balls.
Container with Cart Assembly Pros 1. Mobile 2. Holding tank is separate from compressor and cart 3. Securely locks onto cart Cons 1. Many parts means more complicated 2. Could be expensive to build Interesting 1. Gives the user the ability to have the same convenience of the wire basket and able to increase the life of the tennis balls in one package The design gives the ability to remove the container, place on the cart, and can pressurize the tennis balls.
