Look Again Can you see me now? Unit 3 – Look Again Camouflage By Mrs. Nailon

How do animals protect themselves?  Animals hide using camouflage!  They blend in with their habitat.  They use patterns to hide from others.  They pretend to be something else.  They use their colors to hide.  They mimic their surroundings.

Blending  Some animals blend into their habitat so it is hard to see them.

Patterns  Animals use patterns and colors to blend in to their habitat.

Pretenders  Some creatures pretend to be something else in nature so their predators won’t see them.

Mimicry  Animals mimic or act like a different animal to fool their predators into thinking they are dangerous or poisonous.

Hide  Some animals simply hide if they are afraid or when danger is near.

Camouflage  All animals camouflage in some way to protect themselves!
