How do animals protect themselves? Animals hide using camouflage! They blend in with their habitat. They use patterns to hide from others. They pretend to be something else. They use their colors to hide. They mimic their surroundings.
Blending Some animals blend into their habitat so it is hard to see them.
Patterns Animals use patterns and colors to blend in to their habitat.
Pretenders Some creatures pretend to be something else in nature so their predators won’t see them.
Mimicry Animals mimic or act like a different animal to fool their predators into thinking they are dangerous or poisonous.
Hide Some animals simply hide if they are afraid or when danger is near.
Camouflage All animals camouflage in some way to protect themselves!
