Homework Is set on a Wednesday and due in on a Monday. It is aimed to build on the work that we are doing in class. It will contain a mixture of maths, literacy, phonics, topic. (not all of them) Please ask if you are not sure about any of it. Reading Books will be changed twice a week. (which is why I only give 2) At the end of each book band an assessment is carried out to see if they are ready to move up. If not then none bug club books will be given.

Assessment without levels.

Phonics Assessment. Year 1 (Year 2s) – Summer term – have to sound out the words and blend it together.  40 words which are a mixture of real and not real.  Pass mark last year was 32. Vital that you allow your children to sound (segment) and blend together as many words as possible. (do not want to frustrate them though.) Phonics teaching will go on in school every day. We are recapping our single sounds at the moment. Then moving onto diagraphs. ( 2 letters 1 sound)

Year 2 SATs Taken in the summer term. New Curriculum. SPaG, Reading and Maths 2 maths papers : 1 in arithmetic (25 questions) and 1 in reasoning (31 questions) Practise makes perfect. -reading and mental maths.
