CM202 Class Hints

Use a heading on all your papers. No cover (title) page. Following instructions counts on your grade. The heading should include: Name, CM202, unit number. (See the example below) The rubric for each assignment is posted in the syllabus. Before submitting your projects for grading, copy and paste the rubric for the assignment at the bottom of your paper. This keeps the criteria for grading directly in front of you as you prepare your project. Failure to complete this step results in loss of points. The rubrics are in the syllabus. Use a text citation in your papers to connect our readings to your writing. Citations should support your thoughts, NOT present content. If you aren't satisfied with your grade of less than 85% on a project, revise it and resubmit. You have two weeks after the original due date to submit revisions. Post 4 times on each question on the Discussion Board for full points. Review the comments on your projects to help you earn more points on the next one.

Use correct grammar on the Discussion Board and projects. Your writing is a direct reflection of your commitment to presenting yourself confidently. Read my weekly Announcement before starting the work for the week. Attend live seminars to increase your understanding of unit concepts. Review the seminar transcript before preparing your project. Please note the late submission policy in the syllabus – 10% per unit. Contact me if you are having any problems in the class. I can't help if I don't know there is a problem. If you are unable to attend live seminars, review the transcript and any PowerPoints from the seminar that I post in doc sharing. Information is presented in live seminars that is not available elsewhere on the platform. Do not use second person (you) in class writing. Use first or third person. Incorrect use of second person will result in a loss of points. (See my explanation below.)

Unit 1 Assignment For a few days, keep a mass media journal, detailing your interaction with mass communications and communications in general. Focus on the following questions: How much time do you spend with each type of medium: television, the radio, newspapers, magazines, books, and the Internet? Where do you get most of your news and information? How about your entertainment? Print sources, online, TV, radio, digitally? Is this changing at all? How have your media choices changed? Why? How much advertising do you think you are exposed to? Write a 350- to 500-word paper reflecting on your media choices and how you think they influence you as a person and shape your perceptions on the world around you. If you cite any outside sources or the textbook in this assignment you must use APA format.

Cont. Put your project in a Word document. Save it in a location and with a name that you will remember. When you are ready to submit it, go to the dropbox and complete the steps below: Click the link that says ‘Submit an Assignment’ In the ‘Submit to Basket’ menu, select Unit 1: Dropbox In the ‘Comments’ field, make sure to add at least the title of your essay Click the ‘Add Attachments’ button Follow the steps listed to attach your Word document To view your graded work, come back to the Dropbox or go to the Gradebook after your instructor has evaluated it Make sure that you save a copy of your project.
