Charley Quinn “He was only twelve years old, and he’d shot and killed a human being” Pg.79 This is a physical trait. This shows that he was afraid of shooting the man so he ran away.
Johnny Quinn “Surprised that anyone would want to dress like a private, the lowest Army rank- like Johnny was-Charley was now curious what General Meade looked like.”Pg.46 Physical Trait This shows that he is not around anymore because he was shot in Gettysburg at the round top when he was 23.
Jerusha Bent “Her face was brown, wrinkled as a nut meat, and her eyes black, sharp and fierce-looking.”Pg.109 Physical Trait This shows that she was 1 looking.
The Battle of the Wilderness “Hundreds of sparrows fled shrieking from the mutilated trees.”Pg.77 Physical Trait That means that all the trees are smashed from the peoples cannons.
Cabin House “The buildings only vague gray shapes in the hazy dust, were set behind a low, sagging fence.”Pg.103 They were all made of old wood and they were surrounded by trees. There was a cabin house, a shed, and a henhouse.
Bowery Alley “Charley’s eyes bored into the dimness of the dirty alley, looking for help from one of the other Bowery Boys.”Pg.1 Bowery Alley is where two gangs usually fight each other. Those gangs are the Bowery Boys and the Dead Rabbits.
The Stowaway Charley’s first problem is that he wants to be in the army just like Johnny was before he was shot and killed. The army was parading down the main street to the boat that will take them out to war. Charley seen one of Johnny’s friends named Con and decided to hide in his coat and come with him without being discovered.
The Trick When all the soldiers and charley the drummer boy, all traveled through the forest and came to a hill and found the enemies. The enemies were out numbered so they went to the opposite side of the hill so our soldiers followed. When we got to the other side there was thousands of more enemies. That is what started the all out war.
The Panther Granny Bent helps deliver babies. One day she got a call that Mrs.Giffen is having a baby. She said she would be back in two days. After a week has passed Charley got worried so he said he would leave the next morning to find Granny Bent. That night the panther got into the chicken coop and only three survived. Charley took the chickens and the mule inside away from the panther and all night they heard scratching on the roof until it finally stopped. That morning Charley just went outside when the panther leaped at him only 5 feet away. Charley got out his rifle aimed and shot and killed the beast. Then he set off to find Granny Bent.
About The Book This is an awesome book because it is full of adventures and problems. Anybody who likes to read historical-fiction books and adventure should read this book. If you read this book you will find out if Charley gets back to his family and saves Granny Bent.
