Early disclosure to the Working Group of patent information that might be relevant to the standard is essential to reduce the possibility for delays in the development process and increase the likelihood that the draft publication will be approved for publication. Please notify the Chairhttp://standards.ieee.org/guides/bylaws/sb-bylaws.pdf Carl R. StevensonCarl R. doc.: IEEE /0045r0 Submission March 2006 Carl R. Stevenson, WK3C Wireless LLCSlide 2 IEEE WG Closing Report – March Status –Entered the March 2006 plenary with 2 proposals “on the table” (Both were the result of mergers of previous proposals) –Monday afternoon the 2 remaining proposal teams announced a merger, eliminating the need for a downselection process –The proposal team has been tasked with submitting a consolidated “Working Document Towards a Draft” to the May 2006 interim The document is to be in the IEEE-SA MS Word template format so that it “looks like a draft” It is recognized by the group that more work needs to be done before the document will be ready to become a Draft 1.0 and go to WG ballot –More work on evaluating incumbent sensing techniques –Will need to consider and accomodate the work of TG1 (Enhanced Protection of “Part 74” Devices as that work progresses –WG adopted revised work plan/schedule –Carl R. Stevenson and Gerald Chouinard re-elected unanimously as Chair and Vice-chair respectively

doc.: IEEE /0045r0 Submission March 2006 Carl R. Stevenson, WK3C Wireless LLCSlide 3 IEEE WG Goals – May Goals for the May 2006 Interim Session –Receive and review the “Working Document Towards a Draft” submitted by the merged proposal team –Accept comments on that document –Finalize plans for WG reviews (to be conducted in a manner similar to the WG Ballot process) Intended to drive the document towards the level of maturity and consensus necessary to become a Draft 1.0 and go to WG Ballot Familiarize WG members with the process, tools, etc. for WG Ballot, comment submission, etc. –Need/seeking volunteers for WG Technical Editor(s) Previously identified WG Technical Editor unfortunately had to cease 802 participation due to change in employment/sponsorship situation
