Assistments offers tutoring, which is very time consuming to design. Previous studies have shown that students using Assistments perform better on tests than do those who learn using traditional homework.
Our goal is to determine whether the tutoring contributes significantly to student learning.
Students are given a pre-test Students do problem sets over the course of the week Half are given tutoring Half are given correctness-only feedback Students take post-test one week later Requires only one computer lab session each week.
Week 1: Decimals and Fractions Week 2: Percents and Proportions Week 3: Absolute Value and Order of Operations Week 4: Mean, Median, Mode, and Range Week 5: Scatter Plots, Stem and Leaf Plots, Box and Whisker Plots
