Adjectives: modify/describe nouns and pronouns. Ex: Hawaii has gigantic waves. Ex 2: They can be intimidating. Adjectives: specify meaning of nouns/pronouns they modify.

Adjectives They answer the questions: What kind?How much? Which one?How many?

Special Notes on Adjectives: Nouns can be sometimes used as adjectives. – Ex: I need a mouse pad for my computer. Possessive pronouns are sometimes used as adjectives. – Ex: Jake forgot his portfolio. Demonstrative pronouns are used as adjectives. – Ex: Jake forgot that portfolio.

Other forms of adjectives Articles – also considered adjectives; a, an, the Proper Adjectives – formed from proper nouns – Ex: Proper noun – Africa – Proper adjective – African Usual endings: -n, -ian, - ese, -ish
