Mecca is the most important city in Islam. It is where Islam was born and where Mohammed ruled. The Kaa’ba is there, a large black box which contains a piece of rock that Abraham is said to have found. The rock is said to be from heaven. Millions visit each year. Only Muslims are allowed to enter the city.

Islam teaches that Muslims should do the following.  Declare that there is one God, Allah and Muhammad is his messenger  Fast during the holy month of Ramadan  Pray five times a day, facing the direction of Mecca  Give 10 % of what they earn to charity  Visit the holy city of Mecca at least once in their lifetime
