 Advertising is a tool to relay a message or feature a product.  Transmitted to a target audience.

 Advertising industry has strict rules and regulations monitored by the Federal Trade Commission.  Significant leeway and ways to get around these rules and regulations.

Sex as an advertising tool? o Yes, why? o People want to be desired, loved, and intimate. o Sex Sells! o Examples of companies that make $$ from their sexual ads: o Axe o Abercrombie & Fitch o Carl’s Jr. o Dolce & Gabbana

What’s the big deal? What we have found is that companies that have nothing to do with sex appeal, use it as an advertising tool to get consumers to buy their products. This is a very effective, but demeaning tool. Is it right to make money off of such demeaning messages?

HOW CAN SUCH A POWER MESSAGE AND SPOKESPERSON BE TURNED INTO A DEMEANING MESSAGE ABOUT WOMEN?? IRONIC? I THINK SO. WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE DOES THIS AD PORTRAY ABOUT MEN? AND WHAT DO YOUR CHILDREN LEARN FROM THIS MESSAGE??

Degrading messages about men and women make people think in a negative way. While boys are watching negative things about girls, the girls are affected because of what the boys are thinking caused by negative advertisements..
