Job Description and Work Environment A pipefitter, or also called a steamfitter, is a tradesperson trained in organizing, assembling, creating, maintaining, and repairing piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating or cooling. Pipefitters work indoors and outdoors at dangerous and physically demanding tasks that sometimes requires climbing. There is a risk of injury for pipefitters from working with power tools and heavy equipment.
Required Education A high school diploma is required.
