SAL-I PROJECT PROPOSAL Development of a Web-based GUI for SAL

Introduction  The SAL-I project team  Marc Hammerton  Jörg Seifert  Xu Du  Scott Messner  We are working to develop a graphical user Interface for SAL.

What is SAL?  Sensor Abstraction Layer (SAL)  interfacing tool for managing large networks of sensors.  Multiple, unique devices  one uniform system.  Command-line interface  Textual data only SAL Agent Different sensors Text based interface

Why SAL-I?  Problem: SAL only provides raw data.  Solution: SAL-I  Graphical representation of raw data.  Remote access from anywhere.  Increased user acceptance. SAL Agent WEB interface Client Server

What needs to be done?  SAL-I will need two things:  Web Service Interface to SAL  Web Browser Interface to End-User SAL Agent WEB interface Client Server

Are there Risks?  Choosing the right technology  Displaying visual, audio, and textual data  Connecting to SAL  Limited time-scale  9 weeks  No extensions  Design the system without actual end-user

What’s the Plan?

Any Questions?
