How did they keep food cold? ????????????????????????????????? They dug a hole and put straw on top!

How did they learn to cook ? ??????????????????????????????????????????? From their older relatives.

What did pioneers do to cook They hung meat over a fire. Stew or soup was cooked in pots or kettles.

Eggs were coated in wax and packed in ashes, sawdust or straw to keep them fresh. Butter and cream were stored in crocks and jugs in cold water. They also used a dutch ovens, outdoor fire or kitchen hearth.
