Objectives: SWBAT Explain the impact of significant technological innovations in World War I such as machine guns, airplanes, tanks, poison gas, and trench warfare

Machine Guns Relatively new technology at the beginning of the war. Many difficulties w/ keeping machine cool. Still, was nearly impossible to defend resulting in huge numbers of casualties.

Vocabulary Terms Trench warfare a type of combat in which opposing troops fight from trenches facing each other. Stalemate- a position counting as a draw, in which a player is not in check but cannot move except into check.
