Examples of Linear Relationships Talya Warrick, Akei Coffman, Robert Stanton

Linear Relationship Two variables that increase or decrease at the same rate or stay the same the whole way across the graph.

Angle of the Clock As time goes by the angle of the hands change and go all the way around the whole 360 degrees. At certain times we record the angle it is at when it’s on a number.

Money earned for babysitting For babysitting an hour you can earn 5 dollars so the money raised would increase at a steady pace depending on how long you babysit.

Money earned for Movie Tickets Sold Each Movie ticket sold is $7.50 which means if you sell more the graph will show it increasing at a steady pace.

Variables Dependent Variable: The Dependent variable for example 3 is the price which means the price would go on the y axis. Independent Variable: The independent variable for example 3 is the number of tickets sold which means the number of tickets sold would go on the x axis.

Table Number of Tickets SoldPrice of Tickets

graph

Did you connect the coordinates? We did not connect the coordinates because you cannot have half of a movie ticket.

Equation Amount of money the theatre gets is $7.50 times the number of tickets sold. M=amount of $ theatre gets N= # of tickets sold Equation = m = $7.50 x n Equation = m = $7.50n

Conclusion The effect for the movie tickets sold was that the money increased at a steady pace just like the babysitting. While the clock increased the angle at degrees over time, the only one to use angles at degrees for the graph.
