Elections and Appointment CHS Model UN, School Year

 All details and procedures are outlined in our Constitution, found on our website.  The Board consists of 8 members: 5 are elected. 1 is appointed by the advisor. 2 are appointed by the rest of the new board. Basics

 2 Co-Secretary Generals (aka Co-Presidents) ELECTED Main authority of the Board Overlook ALL aspects of the club and make sure everything is properly managed Plan and lead meetings Prerequisites: 2/+ years of active participation 4/+ conference experiences, including 2/+ multi-day conferences Positions – Duties and Prerequisites

 Under-Secretary General (aka Vice President) APPOINTED by advisor, if deemed necessary Assist the Co-Sec Gens in their duties Coordinate an additional conference (one other than CHSMUNC and JHUMUNC) Prerequisites: Same as Co-Sec Gens Positions – Duties and Prerequisites

 Fall Coordinator ELECTED Overlooks all aspects of CHSMUNC Registration Overlook all chairs and staff members Official point of communication for CHSMUNC Etc, etc, etc Prerequisites: 2/+ conference experiences, including 1/+ CHSMUNC and 1/+ multi-day conferences Positions – Duties and Prerequisites

 Spring Coordinator ELECTED Overlooks all aspects of JHUMUNC Registering our school Hotel arrangements Official point of contact for JHUMUNC Etc, etc, etc Prerequisites: 2/+ conference experiences, including 1/+ JHUMUNC Positions – Duties and Prerequisites

 Fundraiser ELECTED Muffin MUNdays, Carnival, WorldFest Restaurant Night, Food for Banquet Catering for CHSMUNC Etc, etc, etc Prerequisites: 1/+ conference experience Participated in 30%/+ of Muffin MUNdays that have occurred so far this year Positions – Duties and Prerequisites

 Secretary APPOINTED by the new Board Meeting announcement s Meeting minutes s (both Club and Board) Keep record of members’ participation and attendance Prerequisites: 1/+ conference experience CONSISTENT participation in all meetings and events Positions – Duties and Prerequisites

 Member-at-Large APPOINTED by the new Board PA announcements to advertise the club at the beginning of the year Update website Any other tasks delegated by the Advisor/Co-Sec Gens Prerequisites: 1/+ conference experience Positions – Duties and Prerequisites

 Your main intention is your résumé.  You have a lot of other positions you’re running for in other clubs.  You will not be able to attend Club & Board meetings on a regular basis.  You have been unexcused to 20%/+ of meetings thus far, including conference meetings for conferences that you had registered for. Prohibited from running for elected and appointed positions. Please do NOT run if:

 Applicants submit online form (Google Form) by 3/11. Let us know right away if you cannot access it. Graduating Board members may offer you candidacy in a position different from what you initially requested or, if necessary, reject an application.  Prior to elections, the finalized list of candidates will be sent out. Candidacy Application

 Only non-graduating, active members can vote. Before elections, the Board will set a cutline for being “active” and send out a list of all active members.  Two-thirds of these active members must be present for the elections to take place. i.e. if you are on the list of active members, you MUST show up at elections!  Each candidate will give a speech: 2 minutes if you are running for Co-Sec Gen 1 minute if you are running for other positions  Each voting member will cast a vote. Elections (3/19)

 Only the Advisors may count the votes.  The Advisors, if deemed necessary, will also appoint an Under-Secretary General.  The results will be announced via .  The winners will take office starting 3/22. Elections (3/19)

 After elections, all members interested in being appointed as Secretary or Member-at-Large will submit an online form.  The new Board will conduct an interview for these members and select the winners. Appointment (April)
