FS3 Creative Project: Screenplay

Front sheet No camera/editing instructions unless essential (make sure they are in the correct format if you do use them) Courier 12 font Number scenes Slugline Scene/action descriptor INT/EXT/DAY/NIGHT

FS3 Creative Project: Screenplay CAPITAL letters for characters’ names the first time we meet them (try to give all characters names/descriptions) Dialogue must be indented The audience will only know what you show them or tell them – they won’t know what is going on in a characters’ head!

FS3 Creative Project: Screenplay BEWARE Too much happens Most films start with some sort of establishing shot (or something which gives context) Be careful of time – “they sit in silence for a minute” Show, don’t tell and don’t do it twice

FS3 Creative Project: Screenplay THINK Can you see the action when you run it? Does it look/feel like a film?
