09/10/05Bowen Forum Why The Forum exists  Established to work on the formation of a single voluntary, self-regulating UK register of professional Bowen therapists  partly as the result of the recommendations in The House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology Sixth Report 2000

09/10/05Bowen Forum The role of the Forum  The Forum will define, promote and continually evaluate the elements and standards of best practice of Bowen.  The Forum will have a role in supporting research into the therapeutic effects of Bowen and advancing public knowledge and awareness of Bowen.

09/10/05Bowen Forum The Forum needs to establish:  A common code of Ethics  Criteria and procedures for the registration of Bowen therapists  Accreditation processes to accredit courses in the various Bowen and Bowen-related therapies  A Framework/Policy to investigate incidents and complaints in a fair and timely way.

09/10/05Bowen Forum VSR - WHY???????  To protect the public by ensuring therapists provide efficient, effective and safe practice  To protect and support all Bowen therapists by ensuring the highest standards of training and continuing professional development (CPD)

09/10/05Bowen Forum VSR - HOW ??????  Consult as widely as possible  Collect and consider the views, opinions and expertise of all Bowen therapists To ensure that the decisions are based on consensus.

09/10/05Bowen Forum VSR -does this matter to YOU?  YES, YES, YES!  To achieve this we need your participation and co- operation  Tell us what you think – share your thoughts!  Tell us what you want to happen – share your hopes & dreams  You have a choice – be directly or indirectly involved. COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY!

09/10/05Bowen Forum Does any of this worry you?  What are your concerns?  Can you be specific?  What if someone isn’t a member of an organisation?  What will it cost?  I work part time – what about me?

09/10/05Bowen Forum Is This YOU ???!  Nobody will listen to me.  How can one view make a difference?  It will be all talk and no action.  It won’t affect me.  Somebody else will do it. I don’t need to offer.

09/10/05Bowen Forum EVERYONE MATTERS!  Every view expressed is important.  Everyone will have the chance to say what they think  You can make a difference.  VSR will affect everyone practising Bowen.
