Camp SPUTNIK: Russian Culture for Youth Grades 7 –10 Did you know that when the USSR launched Sputnik I in 1957 it was the first satellite in space? Today satellites keep the world connected. Did you know that the Mir space station is named for the Russian word for "peace" or "world"? If you'd like to learn more about Russia, join us for Camp Sputnik, a week of exploring all things Russian, including language, music, cooking, crafts, and Slavic folklore (think werewolves and vampires)! You'll learn about life in Russia through hands-on activities in art, food, language, music, and stories. We will have guest presentations by faculty and members of the local community and, on the last day of camp, family and friends are invited to a gala that showcases your accomplishments.
