Rhyme, Rhythm & Repetition Analyze the impact of rhymes and other repetitions of sounds (e.g., alliterations) on a specific verse or stanza or poem or section of a story or drama.

Essential questions… Does this poem have rhyme/repetition/rhythm? Why did the author choose to create that in this poem? How does that enhance the meaning of the poem?

What is Rhyme? A rhyme is a repetition of similar sounds in two or more words and is most often used in poetry and songs.

I love this little booger I love this little booger. All shiny green and black, You can hold it for a minute, But I want my booger back. It stays right where I put it, It sure knows how to stick, And if it gets dry....? It just needs a little lick! I can hold it on my finger, I can flick it in the air, I can stick it underneath a desk, Or underneath a chair. I can make a ball and roll it, Just to see which way it goes, I love this booger everywhere, Except inside my nose.

Essential questions… Does this poem have rhyme/repetition/rhythm? Why did the author choose to create that in this poem? How does that enhance the meaning of the poem?

I wanna double cheeseburger And hold the lettuce Don't be frontin’ son No seeds on the bun We be up in this drive thru Order for two I gotta a cravin' for a number nine, like my shoe! We need some chicken up in here, In this dizzle For rizzle my nizzle, Extra salt on the frizzle Dr. Pepper my brother, Another for your mother Double-double super size, And don't forget the fries!

What is rhythm? Rhythm in a poem is the beat that the poem follows. The most obvious kind of rhythm is the regular repetition of stressed and unstressed syllables found in some poetry.

Some rhythm examples look at the syllables A sunshiny shower Won't last an hour. Rain before seven; Clear by eleven. March winds and April showers Bring forth May flowers. Wishes Won't wash dishes. Early to bed and early to rise Makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise

What is repetition? Repetition is simply the repeating of a word, within a sentence or a poetical line.

Repetition example I looked upon the rotting sea,  And drew my eyes away; I looked upon the rotting deck, And there the dead men lay.

Take all of your wasted honor Every little past frustration Take all of your so-called problems, Better put 'em in quotations Say what you need to say [x8] Walking like a one man army Fighting with the shadows in your head Living out the same old moment Knowing you'd be better off instead, If you could only . . . Say what you need to say [x8] Have no fear for giving in Have no fear for giving over You'd better know that in the end Its better to say too much Then never say what you need to say again Even if your hands are shaking And your faith is broken Even as the eyes are closing Do it with a heart wide open Say what you need to say [x24]

“Frozen” lyrics Let It Go lyrics from Frozen Let it go, let it go Can’t hold you back anymore Let it go, let it go Turn my back and slam the door The snow blows white on the mountain tonight Not a footprint to be seen A kingdom of isolation and it looks like I’m the queen The wind is howling like the swirling storm inside Couldn’t keep it in Heaven knows I try Don’t let them in, don’t let them see Be the good girl you always had to be Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know Well now they know Let it go, let it go Can’t hold you back anymore Let it go, let it go, Turn my back and slam the door And here I stand And here I’ll stay Let it go, let it go The cold never bothered me anyway

Continued….. It’s funny how some distance makes everything seem small And the fears that once controlled me can’t get to me at all Up here in the cold thin air I finally can breathe I know left a life behind but I’m to relieved to grieve Let it go, let it go Can’t hold you back anymore Let it go, let it go, Turn my back and slam the door And here I stand And here I’ll stay Let it go, let it go The cold never bothered me anyway Standing frozen in the life I’ve chosen You won’t find me, the past is so behind me Buried in the snow
