MOL The Mission Operations Laboratory Page 3 NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate Huntsville, Alabama Payload Ops Readiness  Payload Crew Training  Currently 60% complete with two ground training sessions remaining in July and September/October  POIF briefing will occur during the September training session (without Williams)  Crew simulation planned in September with Increment 22 Crew  POIC Flight Controller Training  Increment 21/22 POIC Flight Control Team members are qualified for all existing console positions.  Additional Operations Controllers (OC) certified to staff a new OC support position for 6-crew operations that began in Increment 20.  A new console position to be known as the Change Traffic Engineer (CTE) has been added to support 6-crew operations (also began in Increment 20)  Stage specific training for new payloads is planned for completion by L-1 month

MOL The Mission Operations Laboratory Page 4 NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate Huntsville, Alabama Payload Ops Readiness  POIF Facility Status  All known Ground Data Services for payloads are baselined.  We are still awaiting completion of testing for the following payloads: MISSE-7 (12 sites), MSRR (University of Arizona, 1 of 3 support sites), HREP (MCC-H DOD, 1 of 2 support sites) and TROPI (ARC)  ULF3 Transition  Planned on 13 Oct 2009, includes:  EHS software version 12; EPC software version 7  Command and Telemetry databases for ULF3  New Payload Configuration Files (PCFs) for ULF3 and 20A  POIC ground transition has to happen at the same time as the PEP R8 transition. Updates in the PEP R8 require changes to our ground software that will not allow it to be backward compatible with PEP R7.  20A Transition  Planned on 20 Jan 2010, includes:  Command and Telemetry databases for 20A  No ground software updates required

MOL The Mission Operations Laboratory Page 5 NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate Huntsville, Alabama Payload Ops Readiness  Planning Requirements  Most USOS Payloads have completed planning inputs.  Late inputs partially included in the Preliminary OOS:  CIR/MDCA/FLEX  FIR/LMM/CVB  BCAT5  Late inputs not included in the Preliminary OOS:  DECLIC-HTI  CSI-03  BCAT3  CUCU (systems H/W that requires payload resources)  Baseline Process  ECR to baseline User Requirements Collection (URC) was distributed 22 May  Review is scheduled to conclude on 8 June  TCM, if required, in June with NPOCB presentation by 22 June  ETOV Payload Activity Summary (EPAS)  ULF-3 Preliminary was delivered to MOD on 17 April; Final ULF-3 EPAS is scheduled for delivery on 28 August  20A Preliminary delivery to MOD is planned for 3 July (L-7 months); Final 20A EPAS is scheduled for delivery on 20 November 2009 (L-2.5 months)

MOL The Mission Operations Laboratory Page 6 NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate Huntsville, Alabama Payload Ops Readiness  Payload OOS Development  Preliminary Integrated PL OOS delivered to JSC on 29 May  Remaining Schedule  8 – 19 June: Preliminary OOS TIM (Moscow)  3 August 2009: Deliver Integrated Payload inputs for Final OOS to MOD  17 – 28 August 2009: Final OOS TIM (Houston)  Increment 21/22 will have the “Surge PRO” capability  This allows periodic operations of up to 7 USOS payload racks  Surge PRO concept will not be factored into development of Preliminary OOS  Will schedule operations of up to 7 USOS racks during the Preliminary OOS TIM to accommodate payload requirements  Evaluation of outcome of Preliminary OOS TIM will be used to validate or identify issues with Surge PRO concept

MOL The Mission Operations Laboratory Page 7 NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate Huntsville, Alabama Summary  Payload operations products are in development or complete to support Increment 21/22 and the flights within.  POIC Flight Control Team (FCT) training is on schedule for Increment 21/22.  ISS crew training plan supports Increment 21/22 payload operations.

MOL The Mission Operations Laboratory Page 8 NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate Huntsville, Alabama Summary/Potential Issues  POIC has a few potential issues related to operational readiness for Increment 21/22 :  PL MDM CPU Utilization (Summary chart presented at the May 19 PSCP is included as backup information)  ASCB established guideline for PL MDM CPU Utilization is 85%  Latest FQT with 4 PL Racks actives active and including the upcoming PEP R8 version application predicts utilization at ~ 87%,  With plans in Increment 21/22 to surge to 7 PL Racks for periods of time, oversubscription of PL MDM Memory is a concern  Request for additional testing to assess CPU loads in support of payload operations is in work

MOL The Mission Operations Laboratory Page 9 NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate Huntsville, Alabama Summary/Potential Issues  PEP R8 onboard transition must occur prior to ULF-3  Onboard PEP transition drives a POIC Ground Software (EHS) Update/Transition  EHS Update is tied to ULF-3 command and telemetry databases

NASA MSFC Mission Operations Laboratory MSFC Page 14 PEP FQT CPU Utilization Test Results PEP CPU usage rose effectively 3% in PEP R8. Attributable to implementation of SCR (Automatically Detect Payload Startups and Shutdowns) in PEP. This functionality has been performed within HAL PLMDM bundle and will be removed in HAL5. Preliminary testing of HAL5 show removal will drop CPU usage over 10%.
