CALCULATING A REPLACEMENT TIME AKA EQUIVALENT ELECTRONIC TIME (EET) 8/08 update AB Church

What is a “Replacement Time”? In the case of the failure of the main electronic timing system (System A), the results of the electronic back-up system (System B) will be valid as per the requirements for calculating a correction. In the case of the failure of both the main and back-up systems Hand (manual) times may be used in the official results after a correction has been calculated.

CALCULATION OF THE CORRECTION 1.Calculate the difference between the times taken by hand* and the electronic times of the 5 competitors starting before the missing time and the 5 starting after or, if necessary, the 10 nearest competitors. (A Forerunner is not a competitor!) 2.Divide the sum of the 10 time differences by 10 to give the correction. 3.Apply the correction to the calculated hand time of the competitor without an electronic time. *Hand (manual) timekeeping is required at all levels of competition.

CALCULATION FORM The following is provided as an aid for calculation.

DATA YOU NEED: 1)Electronic Time Recording Sheet 2)Finish Timekeeper Recording Form 3)Start Timekeeper Recording Form
