Hex Cherys Fair – William DeLaTorre – Brice Roland – Dominic Ricci 12/16/13 CTIN-488: Game Design Workshop Final Project

Hex Hex is a groundbreaking action tile board game about a group of mages using the elemental powers (or tiles) in their environment to defeat a series of rogue demons! The pressure is immense, but eventually the players will overcome the forces of evil and achieve victory!

The Game The game progresses on a turn by turn basis where players may either move their piece and swap runes in order to get to a good attacking position vs demons. At the start of every turn, a demon will attack each player. Which demons are attacking is rotated after every round. Swapping involves switching nearby element tiles to create a row of three of the same element allowing the player to cast different types of spells.

Defensive Spells Destruction Spells

Demographic Appeal Colored hex board layout is easy to understand and utilize as a player. Topic is both engaging and fun. The original art is compelling. Targeted age is year olds, hitting the teen age bracket and tapping into the action appeal without too much complexity to distract from the focus of the game.

Strategy - Board space is king. - Each movement counts, and has pros and cons. - To move or to swap is the question. - Demons never stop attacking, making time a commodity. - Each attack has a different consequence.

The visuals

Demon Hex Cards - Each demon's art is implemented in hex cards. - Every demon hex card denotes its different types of possible attacks. - Seamless transition between art and theme.

Physical Contents For the allowed budget the Hex box contains... Game board with hex spaces 6 demon hex cards 140 circular tokens 4 player pieces 2 six-sided dice A 32 chance card deck

The future of Hex - Hex is an amazing new entry into the action board game genre appealing to teenagers. - The game centers around a swapping and movement mechanic to cast spells in order to fight demons. - The entire team got a lot from the project, and gained valuable experience in project design. - We hope you enjoy Hex!
