Saturn By: Yami, Ryan, and Addison

Discovery and Name The discovery of Saturn. Galileo discovered Saturn in 1610 after he built his telescope. The name of Saturn. Saturn got it’s name from the Roman god of agriculture.

Measurements Planet from the sun Sixth planet Distance from the sun 890,700,000 miles Diameter mi Mass5.683 x 10^26 Temperature -270 degrees Fahrenheit Day Length 10 hours and 39 min Year Length 29 years

Composition and Appearance Even though you might think the surface is solid, it’s really not! If you look through a telescope you would see a light brown that gets darker the closer it gets to the poles. You wouldn’t believe that Saturn’s surface is liquid! You can’t stand on it! It is mostly methane This planet has beautiful rings that orbit the planet its self. These rings are made of tiny to big as a house pieces of ice and rock.

Moons Saturn has four major moons. Titan is 1 out of 4 that looks like a planet!! That’s weird!

Exploration There is four spacecraft that visited Saturn, Pioneer, 1979, Voyager 1, 1980 Voyager 2, 1981 Saturn is the 2 largest planet in the solar system Saturn Is made of mostly gases called, 94% and 6% hydrogen helium and 1% methane. Saturn is named after the Roman god of agriculture. Saturn is the 6 th planet from the sun. Saturn’s rings are made of ice and water.
