Background This Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement analyzes possible boundary adjustments to the Las Vegas Disposal Boundary Final Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision The Conservation Transfer Area (CTA) boundary was initially set at 5,000 acres. A final boundary determination was deferred until further analysis and public input are completed.

Purpose and Need Purpose and Need The BLM has a need to determine a final boundary for the CTA that meets the requirements to protect sensitive resources. The purposes of the BLM’s proposed CTA action are to: Protect the natural functioning of the Upper Las Vegas Wash. Protect sensitive botanical, cultural, and paleontological resources in the CTA.
KEY ISSUES Maintaining ecological function of the Upper Las Vegas Wash, including the adjacent alluvial fan. Defining a final boundary of the CTA that protects sensitive fossils, 3 special status plant species, and the Tule Springs cultural site. Identifying effects of the final boundary on the social and economic resources of the area.
