PSAT Pre-SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) What: Test measuring critical reading, math reasoning and writing skills When: Wednesday, Oct 16 (pds 1 – 4) Why: NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP How: Sign up with Mrs. Lupkes with test fee of $15.00 by Oct 9th
ACT What: college entrance exam widely accepted nationwide. Covers English, Mathematics, Reading and Science Reasoning (writing test optional) When: Oct 26, Dec 14, Feb 8, April 12, Jun 14 Why: Required entrance exam for most mid- west 4-year and used for placement How: Register online. Cost = $ (no writing) $ (plus writing)
SAT What: College entrance exam. Covers critical Reading, Math and Writing. When: Oct 5, Nov 2, Dec 7, Jan 25, Mar 8, May 3, Jun 7 Why: Considering going to a prestigious or coastal university How: Registration is online. Cost = $51.00
ASVAB(Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) What: 8 subtests When: Wednesday, Oct 29 (pds 1 – 4) Why: Thinking of military or uncertain as to future plans How: Sign up with Mrs. Lupkes by Oct 18th. Cost = free!
Post Secondary Planning/Timelines Junior Year Register with NCAA or NAIA in the fall Take ACT by April Research colleges and have 5-6 possibilities Register for the RIGHT classes senior year Start visiting schools Consider retaking ACT over the summer
