How might your digital footprint Affect your future opportunities ?

Your digital footprint could very much affect your life in the future. If you posted a bad comment or posted something bad on social media then you put what you said out to the world. With that choice you made by putting that out there it could effect how people and maybe future bosses see you. Even if you deleted it off the website or wherever you posted it, it will never truly go away. Imagine you being the perfect person for this job you were applying for. You had everything that they were looking for but they didn’t hire you. The reason they didn’t hire you is because as they researched your online self they found you partying or found you making horrible comments on peoples posts. You didn’t get your job that you worked so hard for because you posted these things. Be careful what you comment and post or these things could happen to you in the future.

Three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe

First strategy: make sure you have made your account private. If you don’t then it could cause strangers making comments you don’t like or even some might stalk you. It could happen Second strategy: follow people you know and are friends with. Don’t go making friends with stranger. (even if there cute or hot) follow the people you talk to a lot in class or your friends, maybe kids from your sports team or family members. Third and final strategy: be open with your parents. Don’t hide you accounts from them. Yes they might not understand social media like some of us do but they have already gone through teenage life. I know myself, if someone said something nasty on a post or posted a picture of me that wasn’t very nice, they will help me choose the best way to deal with it.

What info did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?

Everything I said in this slide show is exactly how I would tell people about there digital footprint. I will tell them to be carful about what they post and I would give them the those 3 strategies that I follow myself. Social media has become our world and by the time I have graduated, there will be a whole bunch of new technologies and new social media websites. We need to be careful about what we do online. Are lives are becoming very public now a days. If we want to keep ourselves safe then we must be aware and think before we post.
