Operation Adjust Fire 1st Battalion, 355th Regiment, 1st Brigade (FA), 95th Division (IT) Grand Prairie/San Antonio Texas

Goals Increase Net Drill Sergeant Strength by at least 12 Drill Sergeants by 30 SEP 01. Attain 100% assigned strength in Drill Sergeant positions by 31 DEC 01.

Planning Assumptions The Battalion will maintain its presence in Grand Prairie and San Antonio through 30 SEP 01. Required funding for all DSS training including PLDC will be available. The schedule of classes for the DSS will be January and July. Female Drill Sergeants will continue to count as DMOSQ in the OSUT Battalions

Plan Overview Each Battery Commander is responsible for recruiting 1 new Drill Sergeant Candidate per quarter Each DS Candidate will be assigned a Drill Sergeant Mentor. The CSM will incorporate this as a part of the Unit Sponsorship Program by 1 NOV 00 Drill Sergeant School packet preparation will be added into the unit in-processing checklist by 1 DEC 00. The S1 will be responsible for changing the process The DS Production Battery/Platoon will be maintained to ensure candidates are prepared for training. Delta and Echo will continue to have training responsibility.

Plan Overview (cont.) The Command and Staff will review the UMR to redistribute the DS candidates between all Grand Prairie Battery’s. Candidates in GP will be attached to Echo for training until DS Graduation. This will be completed by 1 OCT 00. Dedicated office space for Dallas Recruiting Battalion Recruiters will be made available by 1 NOV 00. A feasibility study for implementing a standing “Hats in the Center” program within the Grand Prairie USARC will be performed by 1 FEB 01. The results of the study will determine if an implementation plan is warranted.
