T HE T ALE OF P ANMIS By: Jilianne Kowalchuk

P AGE 1 In a distant future there is a futuristic medieval land known as Panmis. It is Earth in the future. All is well until a big problem forms.

P AGE 2 The royal family and government officials are the wealthiest of all Panmis. The more money that you have, the more important you are. The wealthiest get all the fancy food, clothes, and technology. But servants get the royal family’s old clothes and leftover food. The servants shouldn’t complain. The slaves get whatever their owners give them.

P AGE 3 Queen Rosemary, King Michael, Princess Gianna, and Princess Georgina are the royal family of Panmis. Their fancy palace has robots for butlers and maids, gourmet chefs, and futuristic tablets as tables.

P AGE 4 One cold morning, Princess Gianna and Georgina gazed over their kingdom from their bedroom window. They saw women with crying babies, people protesting, and men begging for money and food to support their families.

P AGE 5 “ I wish we could help,” said Georgina. But both girls knew that there was nothing they could do to stop their parents from eating all of the city’s food. Last year, many citizens lost their jobs as servants. Now, they live on the streets with their families. The only thing that they have to be happy about is freedom of religion.

P AGE 6 Their parents hide all of the food in their government rooftop farm that is above their kitchen. Anyone who doesn’t know the secret passageways cannot get in. The food is strictly for the royal family and government only. So peasants have to find food for themselves. Also, the city barely has any food because it is all vegetarian, so there is not much variety.

P AGE 7 The royal family’s castle is very interesting. There is art in every corridor and room. The architectural structure defies gravity. The largest room is the ballroom. There, they host lavish parties and banquets where beautiful music is played.

P AGE 8 Deep into the city, not far from the castle lives a peasant named Dianna Green. The year before then, she and her husband lost their jobs as a servants. Now, she has next to nothing. Her and her family are always looking for new ways to find food. On a good day, they can find one slice of bread.

P AGE 9 As princess Georgina played on her tablet table, both sisters heard loud screaming from their window. They saw a mother and a daughter begging for food to one of the government officials that was walking out of the castle. But the man just ignored them.

P AGE 10 “ We should sneak out and help them,” said Gianna. “But what would mom and dad say?” Asked Georgina. But neither of them cared anymore. They wanted to help. So they devised a plan to steal food from their parents, and give it to the poor.

P AGE 11 As they walked out of their castle, they noticed many things that they never noticed before. After all, they have never been outside of the castle. They noticed all the homes of the government officials around them. Each house had a different color and structure.

P AGE 12 They also noticed many sad things. One family looked so sad, that they had to help them. “Hello,” said the girls in unison. “Hello your majesties. I am Dianna Green,” said the peasant. “We would like to help you get some food,” said Gianna. So the girls told the family their plan, and walked sneakily to the castle together.

P AGE 13 But as they walked to their rooftop farm, they ran into the King. “What are you girls doing with these peasants!” Yelled the King. But everyone just kept walking at a regular pace. The King was quite overweight from eating all of the food, so he was not very fast.

P AGE 14 After the girls successfully got the food, they kept doing this for about one more year. It bothered the King and Queen so much, that they just decided to throw food from the rooftop farm themselves. And they all lived happily ever after.
