Jatta is an innocent Princess in the kingdom of Alteeda, but her life is no fairy tale. And one night, her life is changed forever. Her brother, Arthmael, in the surgeons room and covered in stiches…. Her chambers, wrecked beyond repair, and the castle staff, terrified of her. At once when she wakes up, she know that something is not normal. She remembers things about the wolf moon that she shouldn’t know unless she was a wolf…As she digs further into the mystery of her mothers death and her past, she knows that she is not quite normal… OPENING

Jatta has never been a curious person, but when her best friend, Sanda, convinces her to look in her fathers diary, she uncovers a secret that should have been left alone. The next day, her and her brother Art must flee the kingdom, or she must be wed to Prince Drake, Prince of the Darklands. She soon discovers that she must sacrifice herself, so she begins a journey to sneak into the Darklands, and kill the Dark sorcerer to rid the kingdom of evil. Soon, though, the evil Kings third born son, Riz, captures Jatta and decides to marry her himself. When he discovers her secret, he uses her to make himself more powerful by exploiting her other side, the werewolf. However, she and Art escape to the Darklands. She is captured by the King’s soldiers as her other self. She is forced into captivity until her wedding date. When Arthmael meets the Undead princess, he falls in love and starts to ignore Jatta, just when she needs him most. One week before her wedding, she discovers the magic portal that the king uses to talk to the Dark sorcerer. She goes through with Arthmael and his newfound love, to confront the dark sorcerer. But what she finds is not what she expected. Strangely, she befriends the Sorcerer and she frees her, and Artmael’s girlfriend of their curses. But in doing so, he sacrifices himself. Upon returning through the portal, she discovers that Riz has crowned himself king, after the Sorcerer killed the other King. Strangely, Jatta discovers that she has the powers of the Sorcerer, and used them to free Drake, the rightful King of the Darklands. She knows that he could rule it better that the dead King, or Riz. She returns home and frees her father and other brother, who were captured when the Darkland forces attacked. SUMMARY

This book is fairly easy to make connections to, as there are many books and movies related to the genre. TEXT TO SELF : In the book, Jatta has an imaginary friend named Dragongirl. She has dragon wings. My connection is that when I was younger, I used to love pretending to be or play with dragons. TEXT TO TEXT : In the book, she lives in a medieval world with magic and mystery. I have read another series with the same genre, ‘Septimus Heap’. TEXT TO WORLD : This book, Jatta, has many movies and books sharing its subject. The Twilights series, for example, has characters like Jatta. CONNECTIONS

Since I have already read this book, I am going to infer what would happen if there was another book in the series. At the end of Jatta, she discovers that she has powers that she never had before. If there were another book, I would make Jatta exploit these powers for the good of the kingdom, because dark powers are at work once again. I would also infer that in the ‘second book,’ Jatta’s wolf is back to cause new problems for her. INFERENCES

I like this book, very, very much. I wouldn’t change anything, because I would say that there is nothing to change. The plot is evenly spread, there is adventure, comedy, and a little bit of magic. If I was had to change anything, it would be that I would shorten the time that Arthmael and Jatta are traveling. There is one point where they are traveling in the desert, and they do nothing but pull a small cart of supplies and daydream. I would speed up that part, to where they find a small village. WHAT WOULD I CHANGE?

I would defiantly recommend this book to anyone who likes werewolves, magic and mystery! This book is good read for anyone grade 4 or up. It’s good for adults as well. If I have got you interested, go to the library or ask me for it today! RECOMENDATIONS
