The main attraction of Kumarakom is it's backwaters with hundreds of kettuvallams crisscrossing it and numerous resorts nestling on its banks.There are boat rides on offer here where you can take hourly or day cruises. Trips through the backwaters cross shallow, palm-fringed lakes, and travel along narrow, shady canals where coir (coconut fibre), copra (dried coconut meat) and cashews are loaded onto boats. Along the way are small villages with mosques, churches, temples and schools you can view villagers going for their daily activities, traditional Fishing Operations and Lush Green Rice Fields from your boat.
