Preliminaries Complete the “QuickWrite” activity in Elements… p. 493.
Objectives: The students will be able to describe the structure of an English sonnet. Rhyme scheme Meter The students will be able to interpret the archaic language in “Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer’s Day?”
Focus Lesson: The Form… The Sonnet form Read-aloud model (Elements… p. 494) Small Groups: In groups of four, paraphrase each quatrain of the sonnet. Each group will select one quatrain to present. Independent Practice/Exit ticket: Elements… p. 495, “Response and Analysis,” and respond to questions 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.
Homework: I-Search Project Read another 50 pages in your I-Search project books. Take at least 10 more QNQs. Due 1/14.
