Managing Migration and its Effects in the SEE countries Transnational strategy

Managing Migration and its Effects in the SEE countries Transnational strategy

Managing Migration and its Effects in the SEE countries Micro data exchange is to be solved WITHIN countries (HCSO does not receive personal micro data from Health Funds). Opposing interests. Need for an overall Committee to push through. Micro data exchange on immigrants back to sending countries. Spanish initiative (Spain- Bulgaria, Italy-Romania etc.) Pair-wise balances can be made. Excellent opportunity and very much needed due to parallel registrations. COST projekt initiative on behalf of HCSO. Common work on mirror statistics. Harmonization of definitions is solved in this way. Which registers (only the „alien's and/or population registrations?). Harmonization of address registration would focus on longer term physical presence based on the resignation of previous address. It would be a real „solution”to be applied for all foreign citizens – including EU citizens. No parallel registration in more than one country. National regulations can be more extensive. Data protection (the most restrictive regulation will the rule and thus no exchange) Only European countries can be linked and this is a global process. Need for global data also. Micro data exchange in a context

Managing Migration and its Effects in the SEE countries THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION

Managing Migration and its Effects in the SEE countries 1.Further migration related questions in administrative systems, surveys (like LFS) and censuses: most importantly country of birth. 2.SEEMIG pilot for emigrant survey, reform of labour force survey 3.(SEEMIG population projections, DRI method) 4.New migrant specific surveys 5.Better use of data (training) strategy of data development and use. 6.Help to migrants to produce better data Further ideas
