C OURSE O BJECTIVES 1. Learn & use the writing process 2. Develop reading as a process. 3. Apply vocabulary building strategies 4. Critically analyze texts 5. Use sources in writing 6. Understand effective sentence-level writing. 7. Integrate reading, writing & critical thinking.

P AGE 4: G RADING  You can view your grades on Engrade.com  Highlight or circle the date for your section’s final exam.

P AGE 5: C LASSROOM N ORMS  Attend all classes.  Since the pace is faster, it will be hard for you to catch up if you miss  No food or drink other than water  Cell phone ringer must be off and put cell phone in book-bag or purse  No side conversations  Have materials out and ready to start when class starts

P AGE 6:W ORKLOAD You will  Have an assignment due every class session.  Need to turn in work on time.  Need to study for 1-2 quizzes a week.  Write 3-6 stand-alone paragraphs for a grade  Write three 2-3 page essays for a grade To achieve the above you will need to study, at a minimum 3 hrs. in class X 2 hrs. of studying per = 6 hours a week
