New Course Offerings Chess Theory- This course is designed to teach students the essentials of chess strategies and tactics to improve both their chess ability as well as their overall problem solving skills. Forensic Science 2 - students will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of chemistry, biology, physics, human anatomy, and entomology. Aerospace Engineering - explores the evolution of flight, navigation and control, flight fundamentals, aerospace materials, propulsion, space travel, and orbital mechanics. Science Olympiad – This full year course is centered on preparations for the Science Olympiad competition at the Regional, State, and National levels Basketball – PE

Student Assistants/TA’s Student Assistants are similar to TA but more like a peer tutor. One full credit for Student Assistant. Application in Student Services available in May – Do not register for this as the Student Assistants & TAs will be added later. Talk to a teacher about a particular class if there is a subject you would like to help tutor.

Honors & AP Courses If you have NOT taken Honors Courses: Take a test for H Alg 2 & H Pre-Calculus – see your math teacher Get teacher input about your readiness for honors level courses All Students Signing Up for Honors/AP Courses: Get teacher signatures on Registration Form Consider workload, involvement in activities, etc. as you make your decisions

Collegiate and Career Pathways Business, Marketing and Technology Pathway Digital Media Pathways (6 credits) Engineering Technology Pathway: “Project Lead The Way” Consult Your Course Curriculum Guide or teacher for eligibility regarding Pathways Certificates!

POST SECONDARY OPTIONS These courses are designed for students who have exceeded our curriculum OR who want to take a class we do not offer. Students take classes at either PPCC or UCCS. Listen for CEPA (Concurrent Enrollment Program Act) meeting with Dr. Beers in April. Application due May 15th. Your parents pay for the course and if you earn a C or better you get reimbursed for the tuition portion. Students are still responsible for the course fees and textbook costs. Don’t sign up for CEPA for registration – sign up for a partial or an elective that can be dropped.

Points to consider!! On-track to meet Graduation Requirements? Made up missing/failed required classes? –PE, Fine Arts, Health, Civics, US Hist. Core Electives? –Interests and Goals Grades & Class selection are IMPORTANT during your senior year!!! So…… –Take next level in Core Areas/Foreign Language –Do your BEST!!! Colleges/Universities DO LOOK at senior year (both first & second semester!)

How can I make-up credits? Retake classes Online Credit Recovery – see me! Academy Online School – not for classes that you have failed previously. Summer School Correspondence Courses (BYU) Please note: some of these options will need to be paid for by you or your family!! See Mrs. O’ if you are considering any of these options!! If there are concerns about your attendance, behavior or graduation requirements you may not receive off campus privileges or partials.

Partials Seniors may take up to two partials (may affect sports eligibility and college admissions/requirements). May not be taken on the same day. Must be approved by principal, counselor, & parent. Won’t be approved if at risk for not graduating with your class. Will not be allowed a Partial due to failing a class from previous semester (Spring ’14). Partials will only be offered B/S 1 Block 3 & 4, B/S 5 (note you are not allowed on campus during a partial!) Schedules will not be re-arranged for partials.

Partials If you would like two partials you must sign up for a “partial” and also an “attendance waiver”. The system will not allow you to sign up for two partials otherwise A - Attendance Waiver for first semester AM (morning) B - Attendance Waiver for first semester PM (afternoon) A - Attendance Waiver for second semester AM B - Attendance Waiver for second semester PM If you would like a partial for 3 rd /4 th block we will have to include that after schedules are built

Registration Timeline February 18 th –Pre-Registration materials given in Konnections February 18th – March 3 rd –Research Classes (COURSE CURRICULUM GUIDE) –Get necessary signatures (registration form) –Pre-Register on your own Online March 3 rd – –All completed Pre-Registration materials due to Konnections teacher

Registration Process  Check to make sure you have met any prerequisites for all of your course requests (Read the course curriculum guide! )  Get signatures for classes that require signatures (from check list given & Course Curriculum Guide)  Be sure you are happy with all of your alternate elective choices- if it’s on the pre-registration sheet we CANNOT make a schedule change.

Registration Process  Input course requests into IC on YOUR OWN TIME  You should input 8 classes per semester (16 total) PLUS 4 alternates in order of preference!!!  For Year-Long classes make sure there is a course number with an “A” and a “B”  Print your REQUEST SUMMARY from Infinite Campus once you’ve registered.  Double check your request sheet for accuracy.  Turn in ALL necessary Pre-registration materials with teacher & parent signatures!!

What do I need to turn in for Pre-Registration? 1.Orange grade level request sheet (with all necessary signatures) 2.Infinite Campus printout of your Pre- Registration requests 3.Pathway Interest Form (if applicable)

Arena Scheduling Arena scheduling will be in the fall for next school year. Arena will happen during check-in and dates for check-in will be announced later. Schedules will be made available for viewing prior to summer vacation to plan for summer work. Opportunities to make changes will be during arena. If you don’t submit your registration on time you will not be able to go through arena.
