Types of leadership. McGregor’s, X & Y theory (1960) - These were two ideas on how leadership worked in the past, X theory is based on the view of the worker as someone not to be trusted a more authoritarian leadership style. Whilst theory Y is more based on human relation and interaction a more social approach to leadership. Kouzes and Posner's Transformational Leadership Model

4 Key ideas within Transformational Theory Individualized Consideration: the leader attends to each follower's needs, acts as a Mentor or coach to the follower and listens to the follower's concerns and needs. Transformational Leadership There are real truths about this style of approach and how it works with in early childhood. As I think if you yourself find a true mentor or person of inspiration then your work and ideas change and evolve over time. There’s a great quote by Peter Drucker “don't try to innovate for the future. Innovate for the present”. This I feel is a great way to think about leadership in early childhood as what we are dong right now in the industry and the changes that we are looking to make are a real need for now as well as the future.
