NHAEER-TF NEW HAMPSHIRE ARCHITECTS ENGINEERS EMERGENCY RESPONSE TASK FORCE This session will introduce municipal officials to the New Hampshire Architects and Engineers Emergency Response Task Force, a new volunteer organization forming in our state which is designed to provide professional assistance in disasters. Representatives from the NH AEER TF will describe the group's membership, qualifications, training, deployment goals, and its relationship to other emergency response resources in our state. The task force is preparing to provide assistance to the professional management officials in charge of coordinated responses to emergency situations with much-needed building safety assessment. Municipal officials will learn about the complexities of an emergency response, the role of architects and engineers in that response, and the assistance architects and engineers can provide.

EMERGENCY First response. Emergency shelter, medical services, food, and similar efforts are undertaken. Preliminary Damage Assessments conducted. RELIEF Short-term housing, health services, and employment counseling are provided. Formal assessment of damage begins, including analysis of historic properties and other structures. RECOVERY Characterized by rebuilding. Long-term comprehensive planning to enhance the physical fabric of the community should be emphasized.

EFFORTS TO DATE A Memorandum of Understanding with NH Homeland Security and Emergency Management is about to be signed. This outlines who, when and how the NHAEER task force would work for NH Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Bylaws for the NHAEER Task Force are in place, based upon the RIAEER initiatives, More than 40 architects and Engineers have responded, taken the appropriate training, and are now ready to participate if this program can be put in place. Others are prepared to take the training.
