Hailstorms How to prepare for a hailstorm Know the signs that a hailstorm is approaching ( may include very dark clouds, strong wind, lightening, and heavy rain) Prepare a storm kit. This should include a flashlight, battery operated radio, fresh batteries, candles, and waterproof matches. Cut trees down that may fall onto your house in a Hailstorm. Check your roof for any holes or weak spots that hail might break through in a storm. Clear gutters so water can quickly drain out.
