WHAT THE CRISIS MANAGEMENT PLAN INCLUDES Introduction- Letter from the CEO, explaining the importance of the Crisis Management Plan Acknowledgement Form- A form that verifies all employees have read, understood and signed the document. INTENTIONAL CRISIS Electrical Outage- Two types of electrical outages can occur, short-term and extended electrical failures. A short-term electrical failure occurs when lights may flicker for several seconds. The source of the problem maybe weather related. Evacuation- In most cases Mall Management or Public Officials will make the decision to evacuate. An emergency evacuation requires immediate exit from the property. Fire/Explosion- Could exist if there is a malfunction in the food court or an electrical problem. Both cases could lead to evacuation Hazmat- Dangerous and hazardous materials termed as Hazmat are solids, liquids, or gases that can cause death, serious injuries, long lasting health effects and damage structures and property. These may be radioactive, flammable, explosive, asphyxiating or toxic Active Shooter- Any incident involving a firearm assault, take immediate cover in the back of the nearest tenant space, lock doors, and remain quiet. Bomb Threat- A bomb threat occurs when an individual calls and makes a threat to the property.
UNINTENTIONAL CRISIS Severe Weather- Severe weather conditions can be severe thunderstorms, hail storm, or a natural disaster. Natural Disaster- Natural disasters could include: floods, tornados, or wild fires. If a natural disaster occurs, the proper evacuation plan or process to take shelter should go into effect.
LIKELIHOOD OF INTENTIONAL AND UNINTENTIONAL CRISES The intentional crises which are more likely to occur are electrical outages evacuation and fires. The other intentional crises are less likely to occur, but are the most dangerous. The unintentional crises can occur at any given time an cannot be prevented. The best thing to do in the event of the unintentional crises is to be prepared and follow the steps of the Crisis Management Plan
