Cost to Attend Texas Tech The cost of attendance includes expenses that are determined by the institution (tuition) and expenses that are flexible based on student Choices (room/board, books, transportation costs, and personal expenses). These combined tuition and other expenses represent the entire cost of attendance. Individual expenses will vary based on student-specific majors, living arrangements, and personal spending decisions.

Red Raider Guarantee ensures tuition and mandatory fees up to 30 credit hours per year, will be paid by a combination of federal, state, and institutional funds. – Examples of funds include, but are not limited to: PELL Grant, SEOG, TEXAS Grant, Texas Public Education Grant, Texas Tech Grant, scholarships (external and/or internal) etc… Eligibility Requirements: Must be an entering freshman or transfer student who has earned an associate’s degree. Must be eligible to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Must be a Texas resident Must have a family adjusted gross income of $40,000 or less Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 hours) each semester Must apply, be accepted for admission and have a complete financial aid file by March 15 Need-Based: Red Raider Guarantee!

Is there a separate application for the RRG? – No. Once the student files the FAFSA, the Financial Aid Office will identify all eligible students. If I am eligible for the RRG, will I continue to receive the RRG for the remaining semesters? – The Financial Aid Office will identify all eligible recipients. Eligible recipients need only complete the FAFSA for each academic year and meet program guidelines Do courses taken in high school or CLEP courses affect my eligibility for RRG? – No. Credits taken as a non-regular college student will not count against the First Time student designation. Are there academic requirements to remain eligible for RRG? – Yes. Students must meet the institution's satisfactory academic progress (SAP) requirements. The SAP requirements are the same for most other financial aid programs (excluding TEXAS Grant and B-On­ Time Loan). Presidential Scholarships are awarded to entering first-time freshman who show exceptional academic ability through superior test scores and class ranking. Annual award amounts pay one-half toward fall and one-half toward spring terms. They are guaranteed, provided you are admitted prior to April 15th. If you are a non-resident awarded a Presidential Scholarship, you will also qualify to pay in-state tuition. The Terry Foundation is a Houston-based scholarship program founded to provide scholarships to outstanding Texas High school graduates for attendance at public colleges and universities within the state. Established in 1986 by Houston philanthropists Howard & Nancy Terry, the Foundation has assisted hundreds of Terry Scholars in meeting the Founders' goal of helping young people to help themselves. Terry Scholar award amounts are determined annually based on the cost of attendance at TTU, including tuition, fees, books, on-campus room and board and miscellaneous expenses. The actual amount of the award will vary for each scholar depending on other scholarship awards and the ability of the scholar's family to contribute to the cost of college. Direct Subsidized Loan – This loan is for students with financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Students receiving a federal subsidized loan are not charged interest on this loan amount while they are in school or in grace and deferment periods. Direct Subsidized Loan Direct Unsubsidized Loan – All eligible students can borrow an unsubsidized loan, regardless of financial need. This loan type does accrue interest while the student is in school, as well as in grace and deferment periods. Perkins Loan – The Federal Perkins Loan is a low interest loan for both undergraduate and graduate students with financial need. The loan is funded by the federal government, but the school acts as the lender. All payments on the Perkins loan will be made to Texas Tech University. Perkins Loan Direct Parent PLUS Loan – The Federal Direct Parent Loan (PLUS) is available to the parents of dependent, undergraduate students. The parent may only borrow up to the Cost of Attendance (excluding any other financial aid). All funds are received electronically and are posted to the student's billing account to pay university authorized tuition and fees.
