Dear Student, Printed on High School Letterhead Congratulations on your extraordinary achievement of scoring at the commended level on the 8 th grade STAAR assessment. We are pleased to join you in celebrating your accomplishment and want to help you continue to pursue a path that will lead to future success in Advanced Placement (AP) coursework, earning college credit, and receiving college scholarships. Whether you want to enhance your acceptability to the college you have dreamed of attending, qualify for scholarships, or improve your standing in a specific program, a strong performance on the PSAT test will make the difference. Learning some test taking strategies and reviewing the skills the test focuses on is the best way to prepare for the test. We are delighted to invite you to participate in the CCISD PSAT/NMSQT 2015 Summer Academy. The Academy will be held on our campus June 15-July 8, Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. During this full-day Academy, we will help you build the skills, the confidence, and the stamina you need to achieve your best in your Pre-AP and AP courses and on the PSAT for 9 th grade students that will be given in October. The Academy will be held at (name of high school) and taught by your future high school teachers. These teachers have strong knowledge of the skills needed to teach you to do well on the PSAT and in the courses leading to college credit while attending high school. What a great way to get an introduction to your new life as a high school student and your new campus. Each class is limited to 24 students, so please let us know by June 5 if you are interested in participating in the PSAT/NMSQT 2015 Summer Academy. We will have an informational student/parent meeting on June 1, at 6:00 p.m. to provide an overview and answer questions you may have about the Academy.
