c) Explain how laws are made in the UK? The proposed law is written out in a document called a bill. It is introduced and debated in the House of Commons The bill is debated in parliament again It is passed onto a committee who go through it in detail Then debated again and a vote is taken. If the vote is in favour of the bill it’s passed to the House of Lords The House of Lords debate and vote on the Bill If it is passed it is sent to the Queen who gives it the Royal assent It then becomes an Act of Parliament and is law Copyright L.Wilkinson_Redhill Academy
