SPAN 2: FINAL EXAM REVIEW (Spring 2015) Wed., May 20 th & Thursday, May 21 st Friday, May 22 nd (“C day”) *Today only, I am collecting all homework passes for 4 th quarter bonus points!

Padre Nuestro En el nombre del padre, el hijo, y el Espíritu Santo, Amen. Padre nuestro, que estás en el cielo. Santificado sea tu nombre. Venga tu reino. Hágase tu voluntad en la tierra como en el cielo. Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día. Perdona nuestras ofensas, como también nosotros perdonamos a los que nos ofenden. No nos dejes caer en tentación y líbranos del mal. Amen.

Homework check: Last class you were asked to complete the cultural reading comprehension questions on TB pg Please place your work on your desk, so I can give you a completion stamp! You should be checking & correcting your answers!

SEMESTER EXAM FORMAT: There will NOT be a speaking test. Scantron format (true/false, matching, & multiple choice) – This does NOT mean that the test will be “easy”. Watch out for spelling! You must know your vocabulary & grammar concepts to be able to choose the correct answer(s)!

Señora Stribling’s study tips: Your main focus should be reviewing the grammar concepts from Chapters 6- 9 & Ch. 1 of the Level 2 book, especially how to conjugate regular & irregular verbs in the preterite tense. DON’T try to memorize all of the vocabulary words that you never learned or that you don’t remember from Chapters 1-5. Review vocab. from Ch. 6-9 & the medical terms we’ve learned recently. DON’T wait until the last minute to start studying for the exam! Think about it… It’s taken us a total of 2 years to learn all of the material from Ch. 1- 9, so you can’t re-learn it all in a night or two!

Repaso: Ch. 1 Grammar Articles – definite and indefinite. (The articles song) qvpTOSBisTbh09Sg Rules for determining the number (Singular/Plural) & gender (masculine/feminine) of nouns. Subject Pronouns (see “Doe a deer” song lyrics)

THE SUBJECT PRONOUNS SONG (to the tune of “Doe a Deer…”) Yo means I And tú means you Él and ella, he and she Usted means you more formally Nosotros and nosotras both mean we Ellos and ellas both mean they Ustedes is y’all the southern way And, that’s all the pronouns I can say So let’s start again at yo...yo...yo...yo * DON’T FORGET THAT 2 OF THEM REQUIRE ACCENT MARKS!!!

Repaso: Ch. 2 Grammar The verb “GUSTAR” – conjugations & uses in context How do you conjugate GUSTAR to talk about someone's likes/dislikes? Remember, read it backwards…. The subject is the thing that is liked, NOT the person that likes it! (See Taylor Swift “Gustar” video) Sg&index=41 Forming questions in Spanish – meanings of question words like ¿Qué? (See “The Interrogatives Jingle Bells song” for question words & TB pg ) Prepositions used with the verb Estar to show location (chart on TB pg. 60) “Prepositions song”

THE INTERROGATIVES SONG (to the tune of “Jingle Bells”) ¿Por qué?... Why ¿Cuándo?... When ¿Qué?... What ¿Dónde?... Where ¿Cuánto?... How much ¿Cómo?... How ¿Quién? Means who is there...

Repaso: Ch. 3 Grammar Possessive Adjectives: wFTMC6c&index=37&list=LL1qP77MqvpTOSBisTbh0 9Sg “Agree it” song for using adjectives mHQ&list=HL &feature=mh_lolz

Repaso: Ch. 5 Grammar SER versus ESTAR – how do you use them in context? What are your 2 acronyms? Direct object pronouns – what are they and what do they replace? See Video Tutorial: “No lo tengo” song: =LL1qP77MqvpTOSBisTbh09Sg&index=38 =LL1qP77MqvpTOSBisTbh09Sg&index=38

Repaso: Ch. 6 Grammar Saber versus Conocer – meanings, conjugations in the present tense, & how to use them in context. How to conjugate regular –AR/-ER/-IR verbs in the preterite past tense (See “California Girls Preterites” song) How to conjugate stem-changers & other irregular verbs in the preterite tense Indirect Object Pronouns (to whom or for whom?) Demonstrative adjectives and pronouns (this, that, these, those)

To review conjugating in the past tense: 1) We have regular verbs, including reflexives – (Example: Hablar, Caerse, etc.) *What are your endings for –AR/-ER/-IR verbs in the preterite tense? YOU HAVE TO MEMORIZE YOUR PRETERITE TENSE ENDINGS! (é, aste, ó, amos, aron & í, iste, ió, imos, ieron) 2) We have stem-changing “slipper” verbs in the past tense– Only –IR verbs can stem-change in the past tense. The stem-change will only happen inside of the slipper and it will be a 1 to 1 change (e:i), (o:u)! {Examples: Preferir, Servir} 3) We have –car/-gar/-zar verbs – Remember that these verbs have a spelling change, but ONLY in the Yo form! Examples: Empezar (Yo empecé), Pagar (Yo pagué), Practicar (Yo practiqué). 4) You have the irregular verbs (“Tener is tuve, Estar…..estuve”) that DON’T use the normal preterite verb endings & that DON’T have accent marks!

You are standing here! HERE’S A VISUAL AID TO HELP W/ REVIEWING DEMONSTRATIVE ADJECTIVES & PRONOUNS! (These are the masculine forms. You need to know how to make them feminine & masculine plural/ feminine plural)
