What is the Pathway Partnership Program? Click “Browse” Once at the Tacoma Public library website

Click “Pathway to Education”

Click “BookFLIX ” for Animated Interactive Picture Books in fiction. 40 titles in Spanish Click “TrueFLIX” for animated non-fiction picture books

1. Enter student ID# in “library Barcode” box 2. click “Logon”. Note the student ID # is NOT printed on the Pathway card. Students receive their ID # from their school librarian or the front office staff

If you are asked for a password then type “1234”

A student can click on a theme of their choice, such as “Animals & Nature” There are 9 themes

Then the student chooses a book by clicking “Go”. Note fiction is on the left and the paired non-fiction book is on the right

If a student wants the fiction picture book then they click “Watch the Story” If they want the non- fiction book book then they click, “Read the Book” Note, the read along feature is available for the non-fiction books as well!

To activate the narrator, student can turn on the “read along” feature Students then hear and see the words highlighted in blue as it is read to them

To test reading comprehension, students can click “Puzzlers’ “Meet the Author” has a short bio along with a “Listen” button to read along “Explore the Web” has related links Teacher “Lesson Plan”

Teacher “Lesson Plans”, are aligned to state and national language-arts and content-area standards. From the lesson plan page for any Bookflix pair, click "Curriculum Correlations." This will open a popup window displaying a list of that lesson plan’s correlations to the standards document selected. The user’s home state is pre-selected as a convenience. The standard may be changed by selecting a different standard from the drop- down menu and clicking "Go."
